1960s
Jack C. Jenkins ’64, B.A., History-Social Science, is involved in a consulting business providing advice to amateur and professional athletes and their families with a focus on character, maintaining balance and handling the stress level in both arenas. He has teamed with his two sons, Brett and Geoff, who were All-Americans at USC. Brett and Geoff are professional baseball players and Geoff has just completed his 10th year with the Milwaukee Brewers. As a former high school and college baseball coach, Jenkins has helped several players and their families navigate the difficult road to college and transition to the professional level. He has written several articles on motivation and is working with area baseball coaches and parents on successful and healthy ways to support their athletes. For many years, Jenkins has taught at Sac State’s College of Continuing Education on weekends, traveling from his home in Stockton.
1970s
Duane Hoffman ’75, B.S., Business Administration, upon graduation went to work at the California Franchise Tax Board, and in 1981 started a program which taxed non-resident professional athletes based upon performance duties in California. Since then, most other states have followed his lead in taxing non-resident professional athletes and entertainers. Over his 25-year career, numerous publications have been written about Hoffman and his job, among them The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. Most recently, The Sacramento Bee featured Hoffman and the program’s so-called “jock tax” which generated more than $7 million in fiscal year 2004-05, the last year tax records are available. He lives in Rancho Cordova.
1980s
Evin Langley Fox ’86, B.A., Liberal Studies, has been teaching in Twin Falls, Idaho public schools for 15 years and is now an associate professor of education at the College of Southern Idaho. Fox specializes in early childhood education and currently serves on the board of the Idaho Council of Teachers of English. She is a doctoral candidate in educational leadership at the University of Idaho where she earlier earned her Ed.S. in 2002. Prior to moving to Idaho, Fox and husband, Sac State alumnus Jeff, lived and worked in Japan for nearly four years. They and their two sons live in Twin Falls.
1990s
Henry Kreuter ’94, M.A., French, the former Sacramento mascot The Big Tomato, has just produced his second fitness video. He has served on the boards of the American Church in Paris and the Spanish Association of Jeet Kune Do. He lives in Santa Barbara where he runs www.maintenanceworkout.com. 2000s
Candace Dodge ’06, B.A., Public Relations, is the new executive assistant and scheduler in the office of Rep. Howard McKeon in Washington, D.C. Prior to this position, she served as executive assistant and scheduler to Rep. John Doolittle. She resides in the nation’s capital.
Patricia Ann Mills ’07, M.A., Art, is the owner/resident artist at her working studio in Fair Oaks. It is open for Second Saturday and by appointment (www.studiotupos.com). Most recently, Mills had a show at the Coffeyville Center for the Arts in Coffeyville, Kan. Another personal highlight was attending the Beijing Olympics with her husband, Olympian Billy Mills, who captured the gold in 1964 winning the 10,000 meter race. They make their home in Fair Oaks.
