Stinger Crab Feed

The crustaceans will be bountiful, the fun will be limitless and student-athletes will serve up the meal at the Stinger Athletic Association’s Annual Crab Feed on Saturday, Jan. 31. This event regularly sells out, attended by more than 400 alumni and friends, and is great fun and food for the whole family. Proceeds support Sac State student-athlete scholarships. Tickets are on sale now.

Alumni volunteer opportunities

Are you a graduate of Sac State looking for ways to get involved on campus? If so, the Alumni Association may provide an opportunity for involvement for you. Alumni volunteers participate on program and event committees suiting a variety of professional interests and skills. Association chapter volunteers also work with campus departments to develop programming for current students. Time commitments vary from one-time opportunities to bi-monthly, quarterly or seasonal commitments. Blood drive a success

Sac State won the big game against UC Davis Nov. 7 and scored big in the accompanying blood donor competition. During the two-week competition, alumni and the campus community donated 970 units of blood, more than tripling the total number of participants from previous efforts.

Fulbright program honors three

Three Sac State faculty members—Patrick G. Cannon, Thomas L. Decker and Susanne W. Lindgren—have been awarded prestigious Fulbright Scholar grants to lecture or conduct research overseas. The Fulbright Program fosters cultural understanding, shared knowledge and international learning. Scholarship recipients are chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential.

Basketball is on the air

More than two dozen men’s basketball games are available as live audio broadcasts on www.hornetsports.com this season. Games are also being aired in the Sacramento area on KRJY 1240 AM. And games against Big Sky opponents can be viewed via free live webcasts on www.bigskytv.org.

Students engineer a win

A team of Sac State civil engineering students won the 17th annual Structural Engineers Association of Central California student design competition. Students were given instructions to design and build a wood truss structure to meet specific span length and height specifications.
