Sac State support stellar in first quarter

Sacramento State received more than $1.8 million in gifts and pledges during the first quarter of the 2013-14 fiscal year (July 1 to Sept. 30). Generous private support boosted both student scholarships and community programs in the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies and the College of Business Administration as well as other areas throughout the University.

Among the highlights:

  • A gift from the estate of Jo Anne Lonam to benefit the Asian Art and Design Library Endowment fund. Professor Lonam helped establish interior design as a field of study at Sacramento State, where she taught for 28 years.

  • Roy Gersten provided additional gifts to two endowments in memory of his wife June. The endowments support scholarships in the College of Business Administration and the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies.

  • A gift from the Yocha Dehe Community and other donors to support the 28th annual California Indian Conference and Gathering. Held at Sacramento State in October, the event’s theme was, “Honor our Past, Celebrate our Present and Nurture our Future Generations.”
