Sacramento State will look to the past, celebrate the present and point to the future during its fifth Green & Gold Gala 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in the University Union Ballroom. This year’s gala is the culminating event in the University’s year-long celebration of Destination 2010.

The Association is accepting nominations for Distinguished Service Awards. The event will be held in April. The deadline to nominate is November 15, 2010.

Sac State Receives Science Grant

A $755,000 federal grant awarded to Sacramento State by the National Science Foundation will be used to renovate and modernize the University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Molecular Biology Education, Research and Advancement.

A team of four Sacramento State students has won a national engineering competition, beating out teams from UC Berkeley, Stanford and UCLA.

Women's Soccer Wins Big Sky Championship

Elece McBride scored the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute, and the Sacramento State women beat Northern Arizona 1-0 to win their second Big Sky Conference championship in the last four seasons Sunday at Lumberjack Stadium in Flagstaff, Ariz., according to a Sac State news release.

Flemming Named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week

Sacramento State quarterback Jeff Fleming was named co-Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for a Hornet this season and the first for Fleming during his career.

Private Support Remains Strong

Alumni, business and community supporters and other friends of Sac State again showed their support for the University over the past year, providing nearly $10 million in private contributions in spite of the struggling economy. The gifts benefited a variety of campus priorities including student scholarships, the nursing program and faculty research.

Helena Fitch-SnyderHelena Fitch-Snyder earned her degree in Social Science from Sac State in 1973 and since then has organized and conducted field projects around the world, and has made groundbreaking discoveries about the cheetah, the Chinese golden monkey, the lion-tailed macaque and the loris.
