Homecoming Was a Blast!

Homecoming 2009 proved to be one of the best yet. Many thousands turned out for the festival and then stayed to watch Sac State beat Idaho State in a decisive 38-17 win.

Memorial honored Hawkins’ life, studies

Sacramento State students held a candlelight memorial service for Scott Hawkins at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, in front of the American River Courtyard residence hall. There were approximately 300 people in attendance.

Sacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez and CSU Dominguez Hills President Mildred Garcia held a teleconference with the Spanish-speaking media at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, urging prospective students to apply for college by Nov. 30.

Crandell honored for philanthropy

University Foundation chair George Crandell has been named Philanthropist of the Year by the California Capital Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Crandell, who has served on the Board of Directors of the University Foundation at Sacramento State for more than 20 years and was awarded the President’s Medal at Spring Commencement, received the honor at this year’s National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on Nov. 3.
