Michelle Norris Book cover The Grace of Silence Author Speaks at Sac State

Author Michele Norris will talk about The Grace of Silence: A Memoir, the 2011-12 One Book selection, on Thursday, October 20. Norris, one of the hosts of National Public Radio's "All Things Considered," began the book as an analysis of race in the Obama era but it ended up becoming a personal memoir. This evening event is free and open to the community.

Holocaust Exhibit Comes to Sacramento State

Nearly 200 photos on 40 posters chart the course of the Holocaust in “The Courage to Remember,” a free exhibit at Sacramento State’s Anthropology Museum in Mendocino Hall that runs through Friday, November 4.

Annual Sac State Ski Swap Coming

The 46th annual Sacramento State Ski Swap will be from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 23, in the University Union Ballroom. There will be thousands of items of new ski and snowboarding gear, 30 percent to 40 percent off the usual price. A $20 early-bird special gets you in at 9 a.m. for the best selection and deals. General admission is $10; $5 for students and senior citizens; free for children under 10.

Sac State Launches Entrepreneurial Incubator

Sacramento State’s College of Business Administration, a beehive of innovative ideas, is launching another project to benefit campus and community. The Center for Entrepreneurship in Folsom Hall was unveiled Thursday, September 29. Associate Professor Seung Bach will direct the program designed to generate start-up enterprises less than a year old.

In a game that will likely never be replicated, Sacramento State defeated Northern Colorado, 14-0, in miserable conditions and without attempting a single pass, in a Saturday afternoon Big Sky Conference football game at Nottingham Field on October 8.

School of Nursing Announces Fundraising Campaign

Nursing photoSacramento State President Alexander Gonzalez recently announced that the School of Nursing received a $300,000 gift from Catholic Healthcare West. The donation comes in support of a $1.8 million campaign to raise money for the School's programs and new facilities in Folsom Hall.

Her professional travels have taken her from working as a clinical nurse in intensive care, hospice and home health care, to administrative positions including health IT manager for Kaiser Permanente’s Mental Health online disease management program, to serving as chief operations officer for a company in Australia.
