Larry Augusta—a Hornet original! 1939-2013

Larry AugustaLarry Augusta ’62 (Social Science), former Alumni Association board president and avid Hornet supporter, passed away last month. His passion for the University and the Association was evident through all of the volunteer opportunities he undertook and the scholarships he supported. He was a regular at Hornet sporting events, crab feeds—basically any event that was considered a party. He will be missed but his impact will continue in perpetuity. Read Sac Bee obituary

Sac State dancers limber up

Dance studentsFor many people, summer is a time to relax. For Sac State dance students, it was a time to rehearse for the first Theatre & Dance production of the year: “New Moves Dance Collective,” a series of contemporary dance numbers. The program features 10 works, including three choreographed by alumni Daniel Avila ’12 (Theatre Arts), Diego Campos and Melissa Cervantes. Read article


President delivers good news in fall address

President GonzalezThis fall, Sacramento State will welcome the largest new freshman class and the largest number of new transfer students in its history, President Alexander Gonzalez said during his Fall Address. From budget to new projects, his address to an audience of more than 800 was mostly upbeat. Read article

Move-in Day 2013

Move-in DaySac State’s newest students joined the Hornet Family by getting to know their neighbors, exploring the campus and preparing for classes. More than 1,000 freshmen began moving into the University’s residence halls on Aug. 30, during the traditional Move-In Day, bringing lamps, boxes of clothes, televisions, computers and refrigerators with them.
