Tailgate Fever Is In The Air

Two hours before the start of each home football game, the buzz of the crowd grows from a purr to a roar. It's the sound of thousands of tailgaters and an array of individual green and gold parties in the parking lot outside Hornet Stadium. Hornet Racing Team Is On The Fast Track

The Hornet Racing Formula SAE Team is yet another example of Sacramento State preparing students for the work force. For the past two decades, dedicated groups of Sac State engineering students have applied their diverse skills toward creating a Formula SAE race car to compete in collegiate events. Created to enhance the learning experience beyond the classroom, Hornet Racing is gaining momentum.

The 2011-12 One Book Choice Is Unveiled

The Sacramento State One Book Program is proud to announce its selection for 2011-12 - The Grace of Silence: A Memoir Pantheon, by Michelle Norris. As the starred review in Booklist states: "Norris intended to write a book analyzing the changing conversation about race in the Obama era. But once she realized that even within her own family, discussions about race were 'not completely honest,' she changed course.

Change in Career Path Sparks Memorial Scholarship

Bev FosterWhen Bob Larson (’98, Physical Therapy) died in 2010, his widow Beverly Foster (’78, Speech and Audiology) looked for a way to honor his legacy. She found it by drawing inspiration from her husband’s unusual career path. Larson was a former tow truck company owner who had a midlife career change and became a physical therapist.

Nicole AndersonNicole Anderson knows how to keep busy. A student trustee for the California State University system before she graduated in May from Sacramento State with a bachelor’s in International Studies, Anderson is starting law school at Penn State. And on Aug. 20, she was commissioned in a ceremony at Sac State as an officer in the Marine Corps, where she plans to put her law degree to work.
