Feel the Sting! Homecoming 2009
On Saturday, Oct. 10, thousands of alumni, students, faculty and staff will converge on Hornet Stadium to celebrate Sac State athletics, tradition and community. The Homecoming Festival is the party before the game with fun activities, food and entertainment.

Association Gives Scholarships
As the semester got underway, the Alumni Association shared an afternoon recognizing 15 student scholarship recipients and their families. These students come from varied backgrounds, but all have academic and personal accomplishments worthy of recognition. The scholarship program, which was initially started by lifetime members of the Sacramento State Alumni Association, accepted more than 135 applications this year for the 15 available scholarships. Applicants range from incoming freshmen and continuing undergraduates to graduate level students. Click here to read more about these amazing Hornets.

Golden Grads Reunion
In 1959 Sac State students paid 25 cents per gallon to fill their tanks and drive to class. If you wanted to see a movie after an exhausting day of tests, that would be $1. Times have certainly changed for graduates of this era, many of whom will return to campus for their 50-year reunion on Friday, Oct. 9.

Dan Davis is Sacramento State’s new police chief
Dan Davis, a lieutenant with Sacramento State’s Police Department, has been appointed the new chief of the campus force. He succeeds Ken Barnett, who is retiring. The appointment was announced by Stephen Garcia, Sacramento State’s vice president for Administration, and was effective Sept. 1. Davis will oversee a staff of 21 sworn officers, five dispatchers, 30 community service officers and eight office staff members and student assistants.

Sacramento State to host clean tech showcase
Sacramento State will host the Sacramento Clean Tech Showcase, 10 a.m-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the University Union.

$3 million for Environmental Legacy Project
The National Science Foundation has awarded $2 million to Sacramento State and $1 million to Humboldt State for their partnership in the California Environmental Legacy Project.
