Alumna named Rwandan ambassador to the U.S.


Mathilde MukantabanaOne of the world's most respected voices on the Rwandan genocide, Mathilde Mukantabana, MA '93 (Social Work) recently became the new Rwandan ambassador to the United States. Mukantabana earned her master's in social work with a special emphasis on community organization, planning and administration at Sac State. Read Sac Bee article



Celebrated filmmaker comes 'home' to Sac State


Ryan CooglerHis 112 career receptions as a Sac State wide receiver ranks fourth in Hornet football history. His 1,213 receiving yards put him in the school’s all-time top 20. Plus he’s a three-time winner of the Big Sky Conference all-academic award. Now, Ryan Coogler ’07 (Business), could be looking at an Oscar as his next trophy. Read article


Sac State alums expected to be part of Iranian president’s cabinet

Iranian President Hassan RouhaniThe new Iranian president is expected to tap U.S.-educated advisors, bringing a "worldly outlook" to Tehran. Mahmoud Vaezi ’75 (Engineering and Computer Science) could be appointed as foreign minister and Seyed Hossein Mousavian (Mechanical Engineering) is likely to be a key foreign policy adviser to President Hassan Rouhani's new administration.
