Tailgate party and football home opener

It’s time to don those Sac State colors and join the crowd at the football home opener against Humboldt State on Saturday, Aug. 30. Tailgating begins at 4 p.m. in the Alumni Center Parking Lot. Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m. Game tickets can be purchased in advance at the Sac State Ticket Office or on game day at Gate 4.

Homecoming Weekend

Our annual celebration keeps getting better and better. This year’s Homecoming is earlier than usual—Sept. 25-27—and you won’t want to miss out. There will be reunions, the annual Golden Grads Luncheon, a Homecoming Festival with tailgating and children’s activities, and more. It wraps up with the Homecoming football game vs. Portland State. Hornets ranked by SI.com

After a successful 2007-08 campaign in which Sac State won eight conference championships and was a landslide winner of the Big Sky Conference Women’s All-Sports Trophy, the University was selected as the 36th-best Div. I athletics program in the nation by Sports Illustrated’s website, SI.com.

Digital sign debuts

Sac State entered a new era of communication as the campus’ new digital sign on Highway 50 became operational Aug. 5. Up to eight messages will be displayed every 64 seconds, and Sac State will have one of those eight-second messages in each lineup to promote the University and its events.

Telling stories through design

A free exhibition showcasing the work of renowned graphic designer Kit Hinrichs will be displayed at the University Library Gallery at Sacramento State, Sept. 5 through Nov. 15. This 40-year retrospective, “The Storyteller’s Art,” is a tribute to Hinrichs’ ability to convey a narrative message through design.
