Alumnus honored nationally for safety

Erike YoungAlumnus Erike Young, MPPA '04 has received a national safety award, and he credits the skills he acquired in Sacramento State’s Master of Public Policy and Administration program for helping him earn that honor. He is the director of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) for the University of California, coordinating and assisting all 10 campuses, five hospitals and a national laboratory.

During election season, he was a sought-after source for reporters around the state and country.

Janay SwainJanay Swain worked with the foster youth advocacy organization California Youth Connection as state youth council coordinator and AB 12 implementer. She speaks nationally about the importance of policies that support foster kids, but she also talks peer-to-peer with youth about their experiences in the system in order to advocate on their behalf. She is currently a social worker with Sacramento County.
