Hornet fans, alumni and friends are invited to dine under the lights of Hornet Stadium. On Saturday, August 27, 6 p.m., the football department is hosting a fundraiser in celebration of Hornet football and the 2011 season.

Car Show Creates Partnership Between Alumni and Students

The skies parted and the rain cleared in time for the rescheduled Hornet Car and Bike Show on Sunday, June 26. An earlier date of June 5 was postponed due to rain, and the additional wait time only increased anticipation for this annual event, giving the joint committee of alumni and engineering students more time to fine-tune the details.

More Alumni Networking to Come

The Alumni Association will be offering more networking mixers in 2011-12. Inspired by the success of its two most recent events, the Association plans to expand this year's calendar to include mixers located throughout Sacramento and in Placer County. President Gonzalez Updates Campus on State Budget

The 2011-12 budget plan has been approved by the California State Legislature and signed by Governor Jerry Brown. The final budget agreement reduces the California State University allocation by at least $650 million, with another $100 million to be cut through a “trigger” provision if projected revenues do not materialize.

Brookins to Represent US at World University Games in August

After four years in the green and gold of Sacramento State, Ronald Brookins will return to wearing the red, white and blue of Team USA as he was named to the World University Games squad. Brookins will run the 110-hurdles at the meet, which will take place in Shenzhen, China, August 12-23.

Sacramento State raised nearly $1 million in gifts and pledges in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year (April 1-June 30, 2011). Gifts supported programs in nursing, the University Library, and science and mathematics, as well as the Alumni Center.
