Alumni Association LogoThe month of April flew by due in large part to the numerous events that took place. A quick recap includes the Distinguished Alumni Awards—a 42 year tradition; Margarita Mondays; Roxie Thursdays; alumni "swarming" the Capitol and the Festival of the Arts that U-Nite'd many. Art Ball to shine

Art BallArt Chapter alumni team up with the Art Department and faculty to bring you its annual Art Ball reception on Friday, May 16, 5–8 p.m. Kadema Hall, Mariposa Hall, Library Gallery and the Art Sculpture Lab will feature multiple exhibitions, installations and art displays throughout the evening. University Union GalleryThe Art Alumni Chapter is hosting its annual art show that features the many talented works of Hornet alumni. The show is free and open to the public from June 3-27 and includes a reception on June 6 at the Else Gallery, Kadema Hall. Make plans to attend now!

Commencement is May 23 & 24 at Sleep Train Arena

CommencementThis spring, 4,900 new Hornets will walk down the red carpet of Sleep Train Arena to celebrate the culmination of their efforts met with a degree. For a complete schedule of colleges and their ceremony times, visit the commencement website.

Family Justice Center

Family Justice CenterA new Family Justice Center being developed by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and Sac State’s College of Health and Human Services, will further enhance the University’s commitment to helping the community. The center will provide comprehensive support services for those who are victims/survivors of domestic violence, according to alumna District Attorney Jan Scully '73 (Government/Journalism). Sac State freshman wins national award

Armando Porras
Sac State freshman Armando Porras bested 49 other students from across the nation to receive the 2014 National Association of State Directors of Migrant Education Award during its conference April 5-6 in San Antonio. Read article



World record at Teeter-totter-a-thon

TeetertotterSac State’s Rotaract, the student service club sponsored by Rotary International, set its sights in 2009 on the Guinness world record for the longest seesaw. This year, the dream came true. On April 23, the club debuted its 85-foot, 3½-inch aluminum showpiece on the South Green (in front of The WELL), at the start of its two-day Teeter-Totter-a-Thon fundraiser. Women’s tennis wins 13th straight Big Sky championship


Women's tennisThe Sacramento State women's tennis team claimed its 13th consecutive Big Sky Conference Tournament title with a 4-3 win over top-seeded Montana at the Gold River Racquet Club.
