Private support boosts scholarships, student programs


Sacramento State received more than $1.7 million in private financial support in the second quarter of the 2013-14 fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013). The Veterans Success Program, the Department of Physical Therapy and Hornet student-athletes were among the many programs to benefit from gifts to the University. Second-quarter giving highlights included:

• A gift from the Wells Fargo Foundation providing continued support for the Veterans Success Career Pathways Program.

• A gift from the Jerry Cohen Foundation to provide support for the Department of Physical Therapy and the naming of the Jerry and Patricia Cohen Laboratory.

• Gifts from Steve Patterson of Patterson Properties, Inc. establishing the K.C. Patterson Endowment and the Lauren Patterson Endowment, both of which provide scholarship support for student-athletes.

• A gift from alumna Margaret Cossey to establish the Margaret Langbehn Cossey Family Endowed Piano Scholarship in the College of Arts and Letters.
