East Coast Hornet Receptions

At the end of February Sac State joined other CSU campuses to host receptions in midtown Manhattan and Washington D.C. Take a look at the photos from the sell-out crowd of more than 200 CSU alumni and friends who joined us last week at the CSU New York/Tri-State Alumni Reception in NYC and a similar crowd in the Rayburn Building at the U.S. Capitol in D.C. Class of 1961 and 1962 Volunteers Needed

Calling alumni from 1961 and 1962, we’re looking for volunteers interested in helping to plan the 2012 Golden Grads Reunion. The annual luncheon is a special time for our Golden Grads to reconnect with their alma mater. This year's festivities are set for Friday, Oct. 12. Enrollment Shows Sac State Remains Popular

Sac State continues to be a popular destination for college students. The total head count for spring 2012 was 26,543 students. The total exceeded the University’s enrollment target by about 3 percent.

Community Lecture: Neonatal Stem Cells

The Sacramento State Center for STEM Excellence welcomes Dr. Suzanne Pontow, Co-Director of the California Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Program at UC Davis Health System and Stem Cell Research Program Supervisor at the Institute for Regenerative Cures in Sacramento. Her talk will address current research on neonatal stem cells.

Hornet Sports Takes on Dr. Seuss

Five Hornet athletes volunteered at Stonegate Elementary School in West Sacramento and read to children in grades 1-3 as part of the annual Read Across America Day on Feb. 28. The volunteers read stories and talked about the importance of reading at the event which coincides with the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

Ken Macias '78

When the American Institute of CPAs in New York City went looking for a board member to replace an outgoing Sacramento State alum, it found another Sac State graduate. Ken Macias, founding partner/chair of Macias Gini and O’Connell LLP, was appointed to the institute’s board in November.
