Dan Lungren Speaks at Sac State

Congressman Lungren has long been a fixture on the California political scene. On Thursday, March 24, 7:30 a.m., he comes to the Sacramento State Alumni Center to address the challenges he and his peers in Congress face when legislating the economy, public safety, education and health care.

Celebrating Alumni . . . Supporting Current Students

The 2011 Distinguished Service Awards (DSA) is Thursday, April 14. Five outstanding alumni and one honorary alumnus are being honored this year. And while the event is a celebration of alumni, the big picture, support of current students, is never lost at this event. The DSA silent auction raises money for student scholarships with all proceeds directed to the Alumni Association's scholarship fund.

Alumni are invited to participate in an upcoming Student Alumni Association event on Monday, April 11, 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Participation is simple. Construction Management Team Wins Again

Sacramento State Construction Management students captured six awards, including three first-place trophies, at the Associated Schools of Construction Region 7 and Open Problems (National) competition Feb. 19 in Sparks, Nev.

Theatre Students Head to D.C. Stage Competition

Sac State students brought home several awards from a recent acting competition, with two of them heading for the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C., and a showdown with 32 other college actors from across the nation.

Men and Women Win Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships

One team easily claimed its third title in the last four years, the other squeaked out a victory by half a point, but in the end, both the Sacramento State men's and women's track and field teams were conference champions on Saturday, February 26.

Hopkins at Forefront in Health Education

It takes a good leader to recognize the potential in other leaders. Marilyn Hopkins (’70, Nursing), dean emeritus of the College of Health and Human Services at Sac State, says good mentoring is what took her from nursing student to college administrator. “I credit the pushing I got from wise mentors to continue to move on to the next step,” Hopkins says.
