CSU-LSAMP receives $4 million grant
A $4 million grant from the National Science Foundation, matched by the Chancellor’s Office of the California State University, ensures that the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation will continue on the CSU’s 23 campuses for at least another five years. Read article
Sac State poised to create tobacco-free campus
President Alexander Gonzalez has directed the campus community to develop “a comprehensive tobacco policy beginning with the spring 2014 semester." The new policy would ban tobacco use on campus beginning with the fall 2015 semester. Read article
Professors edit a unique Sacramento history book
River City and Valley Life: An Environmental History of the Sacramento Region—a collection of essays that examine Sacramento’s extraordinary relationship with its natural surroundings—was edited by Christopher Castaneda and Lee Simpson, both professors of history at Sac State. Read article

Women’s basketball tames Lady Griz 91–81
Sac State topped 90 points for the eighth time this season, but it was the team's second-half defensive effort, limiting Montana to just 29 points, that helped earn a 91-81 Big Sky victory in The Nest. Read article
Kailey Hansen, Gymnastics
Senior Kailey Hansen wasted little time becoming acclimated to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as she was named the Gymnast of the Week following the team’s first week back in the conference. Hansen scored 9.800-plus in each of her three events. Read profile
