The Alumni Association is currently accepting board of directors nominations. Board volunteers lead the Association in its service to Sac State and its alumni. The deadline to submit completed forms is Friday, Feb. 1. Learn more

Scholarships are available
Do you know any current or incoming Sac State students? Please encourage them to apply for an Alumni Association scholarship. Each year we award 12-15 scholarships to incoming freshman, continuing undergraduates and graduate students. All applications are due by Friday, March 1, no exceptions.

Alumna makes a difference in troubled school
Since taking the lead as principal at T.L. Whitehead Elementary in Woodland, Maria Lewis '91 (Liberal Studies) has helped transform test scores, lift staff and student morale, and engage parents. Starting from the premise that every child can learn, Lewis has the résumé to back up her claim.

Alumnus pens mystery for youngsters
Moses Jones is forever losing things, including his shoes. Moses Jones and the Case of the Missing Sneaker is the first children’s book written and illustrated by Sac State graduate, Nate McQueen ’10 (English).The book is suitable for children ages 3-8 and he intends to write a series of Moses Jones books.

Sac State scores back-to-back titles
Sac State’s first-place finish in California State University’s CSUPERB I2P (Idea-to-Product) competition is the Hornets’ second title in as many years. This year’s winning I2P team presented a novel handheld device for use in the operating room that quickly and safely produces thrombin, a substance for bone healing, from a small sample of the patient’s own blood.

Women's basketball remains undefeated at home
Natasha Torgerson scored a career-high 20 points and the Sac State women's basketball team remained undefeated at home this season after an 81-77 victory over Portland State in a Big Sky Conference game on Thursday night at The Nest. Read more

Kalliah McCartney finished first in the all-around and on vault, beam and floor and Nicole Meiller had the high score on bars to lead the Sac State gymnastics team to a 194.500-188.475 victory over Seattle Pacific at The Nest. Read more
