Commencement Celebrates 2,500 New Alumni

With tears, laughter and plenty of celebrating, about 2,500 Sacramento State students became alumni December 16 and 17, receiving their degrees during Winter Commencement ceremonies at Power Balance Pavilion.

Alumni Association Awards Scholarships
Thanks to the generosity of its members and supporters, each year the Alumni Association awards 12—15 scholarships to incoming freshman, continuing undergraduates and graduate students. The deadline to apply is March 1.

Host a Student Dinner—Make a Difference
Create a personal connection with students by hosting a Dinner with 12 Hornets. These small, informal dinners provide students the opportunity to meet and network with alumni in various fields. The Alumni Association schedules dinners throughout the school year and is looking for alumni hosts.

Join the Stinger Athletic Association for a night of fun at the 2012 Crab Feed. The festive atmosphere features student athletes as servers, a raffle, a live auction, and dancing. All proceeds support athletic scholarships.

Faith Alchorn Selk '87 & Terry Selk '86 & '88

Since that proposal more than 23 years ago in Las Vegas, the pair has traveled to more than 30 destinations around the world as a function of Terry’s long career promoting travel to Sacramento and California. He is currently the director of tourism for the Sacramento Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
