Chapter Forms & Information
The Art Chapter The Art Chapter has a long history of bringing its members and the greater Sacramento community together in celebrating the arts. Working with the Sacramento State Art Department, the Chapter has hosted several art-related films; hosted the reception of painter and instructor Wayne Thiebaud; brought filmmaker Mark Herzig to present "Scherzo" and speak about cinematography; and for more than a decade has hosted the annual "Grad Ball." The Art Chapter was responsible for the critically acclaimed, "Sacramento State 50th Anniversary Show," a juried show with more than 150 pieces displayed on four floors of the Sacramento State Library; "CAMS," the Chapter´s very successful annual juried membership show; and in 2004 the "Sacramento State Art Chapter Invitational Exhibition" presented in the Sacramento State University Union Gallery. In addition to its active on-campus roll, the Art Chapter has an equally active off-campus outreach program. Members of the Chapter's Executive Board have given presentations at local community colleges, instructed and entertained children and brought art to various organizations and schools that would not otherwise had the opportunity.
The goal of the Black Alumni Chapter is to share the vision of our education with current and future generations. As you know, education is the key to success. The benefits of joining this organization include professional and social networking opportunities, developing scholarship opportunities for students in our community, and promoting community engagement and activism. The Black Alumni Chapter presents an opportunity to grow in ways that can benefit so many Black Alums and Friends of the university. NEW! Chapter Website The Business Chapter is organized as a special interest chapter under the Sacramento State Alumni Association and is comprised of alumni and friends of the university. Our chapter welcomes everyone, alumni and non-alumni (friends). The Business Chapter's mission is, "A network of business professionals working together to support the continued improvement of the Alumni Association, the College of Business and Sacramento State; to promote individual member achievement and career advancement; and to make a positive impact in the communities where our members work and live." The E&CS chapter is an organization made up of Bachelor and Masters alumni and friends from all disciplines within the school of Engineering and Computer Science. The chapter sponsors a variety of events to bring our fellow technical counterparts back together on campus. Such events include the Breakfast Club speaker series, Homecoming events/facility tours, and "Tech" talks. We're committed to staying connected with our current student body by supporting student organizations - even dedicating a board seat to a current student. For more information about the chapter, upcoming events, and how to get involved, please visit our website at www.ecs.csus.edu/alumni/chapter. The Latino Alumni chapter established in spring of 2002 and became a chapter in the CSU, Sacramento Alumni Association. The chapter serves to foster a lifelong interest in education and connection with graduates and the University. Mission: To promote and enhance the connection among our chapter members, the Sac State Alumni Association and the Sacramento community. Goals: To develop professional relationships, to provide scholarships to Sac State students, and to recruit new chapter members through various social events. Activities: The Latino chapter plans and coordinates the annual scholarship banquet, which honors two Sac State professors and allows us to award two scholarships to continuing students. Chapter events and mixers allow members to maintain a connection to the university, while reconnecting with other alums. Contact: Alma Ibarra, President
A planning meeting will be scheduled in the fall. Lloyd Snelson is the President and plans for the Chapter to pay for a Hall of Fame Wall for the Broad Athletic Facility in the very near future. Chapter donations and fundraising activities will contribute to the Hall of Fame Wall. For more information contact: Coach Bob Mattos, 916.278.6989 Public Policy and Administration Chapter The goal of the PPA Chapter is to advance the common interests of alumni, students and faculty of the Master’s Program in Public Policy and Administration (PPA). These interests include social and professional networking, community service, and the continued quality and enhancement of the Department of Public Policy and Administration. The PPA Master’s Program is an interdisciplinary program designed to equip its graduates with the tools necessary to tackle the policy and administrative issues that drive state and local government decisions. The PPA Alumni Association Chapter exists as a “next step” for PPA graduates seeking to maintain strong ties with other alumni, faculty, and incoming students; to promote community engagement and activism; and to support the continued success of the PPA Master’s Program through mentoring students and other activities. Fore more information or to get involved in the chapter, contact Josh Rosa. The RPLS (Recreation, Park and Leisure Services) Chapter has been a little quiet lately but there are plans in the works to change that. We would like to make the RPLS Chapter a dynamic avenue for alumni of the CSUS RLS (now Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration) to keep in touch and to also give something back to our community and profession. As in the past our continuing goals include: revising chapter by-laws; working on a chapter website; developing a professionals list for department faculty; and recruiting new alumni members through conferences, socials and classroom talks. For more information on chapter activities, contact Barry Trute at btrute@parks.ca.gov Established in fall 2007, the purpose of the Speech Pathology & Audiology (SPA) Alumni Chapter is to promote common interests of its members for the benefit of the university and its alumni. This includes a focus on raising funds to provide support for the Maryjane Reese Language, Speech and Hearing Center, an essential component of the graduate program, and the department of Speech Pathology & Audiology. The Alumni Chapter also focuses on creating an opportunity for mentoring and networking between alumni members and students while enriching the university learning experience. In October 2007, the Chapter celebrated with the Department of Speech Pathology & Audiology a very important milestone – 55 Years of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Sacramento State! The special event, held at the Alumni Center, brought together hundreds of students, alumni, faculty and staff. The Speech Pathology & Audiology Alumni Chapter made its debut by hosting a raffle of prizes donated by the community. The Chapter was happy to reach its first fundraising goal! The future of the SPA Alumni Chapter at Sacramento State looks promising. It continues to grow and develop and will continue to be a Chapter that members will be proud to join.
Our Mission: To enhance the connection between the department and
its former students and/or supporters through a variety of interactions,
including networking, social activities, professional development, scholarship
fund-raising, educational outreach, and artistic/creative collaboration. Coming Events: The Board plans to provide social functions, student and
member workshops, and scholarship fund-raising activities such as alumni
productions. This will provide members with ongoing opportunities to
assist the department in its growth and expansion. Urban Collective Steering Board Mission Statement: Back to top
