Alumni Mentors:
Alumni mentors participate at Student Alumni Association(SAA) events throughout the year. The time commitment is minimal and consists of attending at least two SAA events per school year. Your involvement at these events may vary from socializing with a few students of a similar major to sitting on a career panel. You don’t have to be an expert in your field; alumni of all majors and grad years are welcome and encouraged to participate.

If you're interested in becoming an Alumni Mentor please send an e-mail to Hannah Kook, include in the body your grad year, degree information and a few sentences about your professional experience. You will be contacted with specific opportunities for participation.

All alumni mentors will be invited and encouraged to attend the SAA Kick-Off BBQ on September 16, 4:30 @ the Alumni Center. This is the first event for all student members and they will be eager to meet the alumni mentors.

Dinner with 12 Hornets

A meal, conversation and fun!
Dinner with 12 Hornets is a program that invites twelve students to meet Sac State alumni in a small, intimate setting: at their home or in a local restaurant. These informal dinners will provide students, alumni and faculty the opportunity to converse, network, and build relationships while enjyoing a delicious meal.

I am a Sac State alumni, faculty or staff member, and I want to host a dinner! What do I have to do?

  1. Choose your dinner theme based on your professional experience. (For example: Entrepreneurs, Nutrition, Accountancy, Physical Therapy, Criminal Justice. Dinner should be focused around just one professional interest.)

  2. Provide a meal for 12 students in your home. The menu could be as simple as sandwiches and potato salad in the back yard. You can also work with Association staff to identify an inexpensive alternative location.

  3. Choose your date, then Association staff do the work of identifying 12 student members with interests matching your career experience.

  4. Enjoy a meal with your new student friends, answer their professional questions, share your personal experiences and possibly even learn a few things from theirs.

To learn more about hosting a Dinner with 12 Hornets send an email to Hannah Kook with your name, degree info, and a brief description of your professional work experience. Multiple individuals are welcome to pool resources towards sponsoring a dinner. Direct questions to Hannah Kook, 916.278.3861.
